![]() ![]() The equipment ones aren't all equal either. #Scannerz radica commercial fullFor example, our Smart and Final has a few kinds of Torani syrup but the Cash and Carry has the full line plus some other lines of flavoring syrups. ![]() Smart and Final and Cash and Carry are the food kind - they are under the same ownership but Cash and Carry is bigger with more specialized food. Around here there are two kinds - the ones that sell mainly food with a bit of equipment and the ones that sell mainly equipment - everything from utensils to major appliances. ![]() In addition to what others have mentioned, they often have the cake pans with straight sides instead of sloped which is nice when making layer cakes. Or the big thin spatulas that can be used for tasks like lifting a layer of cake after you have split it horizontally to add fillings. Restaurant supply stores are good for getting substantial stainless steel measuring cups and spoons instead of the wimpy aluminum ones that bend or dent. I gave a set to Diana in the my favorite things swap - you can see a picture on that thread. My favorite restaurant supply store find is my measuring scoops. Maybe someday when I get my dream woodburning stove and I can just shove it around any old where. They do sell a non electric real iron one, but I dunno, sounds like a recipe for me to burn myself or melt something in the kitchen. I really love my retro one, but it is really not good for much else but toast. I'm not really ready to buy a new toaster, and I don't really have much room for one. I think they're all going to make too big of waffles though, but I can reheat them in the oven I guess. Most of the cheap nonstick stuff I get wears off and I really don't like that, not to mention that the 'non-stick' part pretty much becomes non existent at that point. #Scannerz radica commercial proHere are the ones I'm thinking about getting: Cuisinart Belgian Waffle Iron Calaphon Belgian Waffle Maker Krups Waffle Chef Belgian Waffle Maker Cucina Pro 1452 Belgian 4 square waffle iron Those were the only ones I could find that seemed to have sufficient electric juice and heavy duty cast aluminum 'irons' and also a non-stick finish that didn't wear off. Also the waffle irons I like, that seem to be the most heavy duty for the square waffles, are for the Belgian kind, which I think might not fit in my toaster. It is only big enough for toast made from a small piece of bread. Yes, I know I can break up the other kind. That was a lot of fun Bobby, thanks for finding it! Chocolate waffles with ice cream-yum! Alton was down on the square waffle irons, due to the heat distribution or something, but I like them for toasting. ![]()
